Upcoming Events
In case the news coverage hasn't been good enough in your area, here are the details for the April 8 solar eclipse for Christie Lake, MI:
The partial solar eclipse will start on April 8 at approximately 1:54pm, with the maximum eclipse (95.625% of the sun covered) occurring at 3:10:11pm. The end of the partial eclipse will occur at 4:24:07pm. It is NEVER safe to look at the sun during a partial eclipse, so you MUST have solar eclipse glasses when viewing this event from MI!
As this may be a once-in-a-lifetime event for our area (the next eclipse is 2045), I do strongly recommend looking at the weather and heading to a place within the region of totality -- where the sun will be completely obscured by the moon. This is WELL worth the effort, and you won't be disappointed (unless it is cloudy, of course). The closest point would be just south of Fort Wayne, IN, but if you want to make a day-trip out of it, then you can also head to Indianapolis in IN, or Defiance or Toledo in OH. Whatever direction you choose, this map will be invaluable in getting you inside the moon's shadow for totality:
